Rocky Mount and Southern Nash are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2018, but likely not for long. The Gryphons will challenge the Firebirds at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rocky Mount has given up an average of 3.4 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Rocky Mount is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to nine goals on Monday, they were much more limited against Roanoke Rapids on Tuesday. They lost 5-0 to the Yellowjackets. Meanwhile, Southern Nash kept a clean sheet against Bunn on Tuesday. They blew past the Wildcats 9-0. Considering Southern Nash have won six matchups by more than three goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Bunn from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Ana Alonso led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for four goals all by herself.

Southern Nash is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 41 goals over those ten games. As for Rocky Mount, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Rocky Mount might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Southern Nash when the teams last played back in March. Can the Gryphons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
