Soccer Game Preview: Richland vs. Argyle

The Richland Royals will head out on the road to square off against the Argyle Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Richland's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Richland's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Denton 1-0. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Royals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 400th, while the Broncos are ranked 56th).

Meanwhile, Argyle waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Mustangs 4-1. Considering the Eagles have won five matchups by more than two goals this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Grapevine with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Trevian Ayala (2), Austin Roberts, and Bentley Mitteis.

The win got Richland back to even at 5-5. As for Argyle, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.

Richland came out on top in a nail-biter against Argyle in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Richland since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
