Baseball Recap: Fort Lupton Takes a Loss

Fort Lupton fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against SkyView Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 5-4.

Josiah Gonzales put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has become a key player for Fort Lupton: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-13 otherwise.

Gonzales wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Javier Ortiz, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Fort Lupton has also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for SkyView Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Fort Lupton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for SkyView Academy, they will host Burlington at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
