Soccer Game Preview: Suwannee vs. Fort White

Suwannee is on a seven-game streak of home losses, Fort White a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Wednesday. The Suwannee Bulldogs will welcome the Fort White Indians at 6:30 p.m.

Suwannee is coming into the game fresh off a high-scoring shootout with Santa Fe that saw the pair combine for 19 shots on goal. Suwannee took a 4-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Santa Fe on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 448th, while the Raiders are ranked 64th).

Jose Gomez-Trujillo wasn't going to let Santa Fe walk away unscathed as he scored both of Suwannee's goals, bringing his season total up to five goals.

Meanwhile, Fort White came into Monday's contest having lost 16 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They and Saint Francis Catholic finished up their match with a 3-3 draw on Monday. The result (or lack thereof) marked the Indians' first draw of the season.

Fort White used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Saint Francis Catholic. And. Josiah Hopkins played for 75 minutes having averaged 45 this season. He made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Suwannee's loss dropped their record down to 2-15-1. With that draw, Fort White's record moves to 0-16-1.

Suwannee took their win against Fort White when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0. Will Suwannee repeat their success, or does Fort White have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
