Basketball Recap: Spruce Comes Up Short

Spruce had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-21 to make it five. They had to suffer through a 56-11 loss at the hands of the Seagoville Dragons. The Timberwolves lost against the Dragons in their previous head to head back in January of 2025, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 42-24 score last time.

As for Seagoville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points over those games.

Seagoville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyera Mayden out in front who posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ta'Nyriah Jones, who scored ten points.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Spruce is set to challenge their familiar foe North Mesquite at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Seagoville will square off against rival Wilson at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
