Basketball Recap: Highland Comes Up Short at Home Against Mt. Gilead

Highland unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost to the Mt. Gilead Indians at home by a 66-52 margin on Wednesday. The Fighting Scots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Highland still got an impressive performance from Ja'Kai Wilson, who shot 40% from the field on his way to 20 points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Owen Winkelfoos, who posted nine points and seven boards.

Looking ahead, Highland will square off against Mt. Vernon at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mt. Gilead, they will host Ridgedale at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
