Baseball Game Preview: Teaneck Highwaymen vs. Hackensack Comets

Teaneck has gone a perfect 4-0 against Hackensack recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Highwaymen will venture away from home to take on the Comets at 11:00 a.m. Teaneck is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Bergen Catholic hit Teaneck with a seven-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Highwaymen lost 15-4 to the Crusaders. That's two games in a row now that the Highwaymen have lost by exactly 11 runs.

Jayden Castro and Deyton Walcott stepped up to the plate in a big way. Castro went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Walcott went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Alexis Delgado also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Hackensack came up short against Fair Lawn on Friday and fell 7-2.

Hackensack saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mike Salcedo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.

Teaneck's record now sits at 4-9. As for Hackensack, their record is now 6-6.

Teaneck took their victory against Hackensack in their previous matchup back in April of 2021 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Highwaymen since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
