Basketball Game Preview: Cuthbertson Cavaliers vs. Porter Ridge Pirates

Cuthbertson is 1-9 against Porter Ridge since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cuthbertson Cavaliers will square off against the Porter Ridge Pirates at 7:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Friday, Cuthbertson lost to Marvin Ridge at home by a 56-41 margin.

Meanwhile, Porter Ridge ended up a good deal behind Weddington on Friday and lost 53-35. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 408th, while the Warriors are ranked 47th).

Cuthbertson's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Porter Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Cuthbertson was able to grind out a solid win over Porter Ridge when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 64-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cuthbertson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
