Basketball Game Preview: Wilson Prep Tigers vs. Southeast Halifax Trojans

Wilson Prep has gone 9-1 against Southeast Halifax recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Wilson Prep Tigers will welcome the Southeast Halifax Trojans at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wilson Prep has 14 straight wins, Southeast Halifax has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Wednesday, Wilson Prep strolled past Warren County with points to spare, taking the game 59-42. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Eagles are ranked 364th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wilson Prep found their leader in freshman Paris Best, who went 10-for-22 en route to 27 points and six assists. Best has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Brown, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 15 points.

Meanwhile, Southeast Halifax had to suffer through a 71-23 loss at the hands of Nash Central.

Wilson Prep's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 20-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points over those games. As for Southeast Halifax, their loss dropped their record down to 3-19.

Everything came up roses for Wilson Prep against Southeast Halifax in their previous matchup back in January, as the squad secured a 70-17 win. In that match, Wilson Prep amassed a halftime lead of 56-9, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
