Basketball Recap: Summit Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Summit Christian Academy suffered their biggest defeat since December 9, 2024 on Thursday. They took a blow against the Spirit HomeSchool Warhawks, falling 73-35. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Warhawks recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Despite the loss, Summit Christian Academy had strong showings from Cole Miller, who went 5 for 9 to rack up 11 points and six boards, and Courtland Reiter, who posted eight points and nine rebounds. Miller is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Charles Clydesdale also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Even though they lost, Summit Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Summit Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Spirit HomeSchool, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Looking ahead, Summit Christian Academy will head out to challenge Denbigh Baptist Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Denbigh Baptist Christian: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Summit Christian Academy has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for Spirit HomeSchool, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 72-48 victory against Northern Virginia HomeSchool on the 8th.
