 With a playoff game on the line, Gateway College Preparatory rose to the challenge  on Friday. They never let the China Spring Cougars onto the board and left with  an   8-0  win. Gateway College Preparatory might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won ten contests by six  runs or more this season.
 Not much got past  Chloe Ellis, who gave up just  two  hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep China Spring off the board. Ellis has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than eight  strikeouts in 20 consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Paige Copeland, who  went 1-for-3 with a  home run and three  RBI. Another player making a difference was  Tara Bryson, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-3.
 Gateway College Preparatory's victory was  their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 23-6-2. As for China Spring, they are  on  a  four-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 11-21-1.
 Gateway College Preparatory will square off against Smithville at 6:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Gateway College Preparatory is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5  runs per game  this season. China Spring does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
