Basketball Recap: Centennial Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Centennial on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Whetstone Braves out of the water with a 72-17 final score. The Stars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 20 points or more this season.

Centennial got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kennedy Houston out in front who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten steals. Houston has been hot for a while, having posted four or more steals the last 28 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Houston, who posted 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

Centennial smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 28 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Catherine Pierce and Caniya Woods certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Pierce had four points and seven rebounds, while Woods put up three points and 11 rebounds.

Centennial's victory was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37.2 points. As for Whetstone, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.

Centennial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 60-23 win against Linden-McKinley on the 10th. As for Whetstone, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-45 loss against Hamilton Township on the 9th.
