Basketball Recap: Lawson Comes Up Short

If Lawson was feeling good fresh off their 69-42 takedown of Maplewood last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lawson Lightning took a 69-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of the White House Blue Devils on Saturday. The Lightning were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Blue Devils earlier this season, when they won 52-48.

Despite the defeat, Lawson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Chandler Galloway went 8-for-19 en route to 21 points and seven rebounds. That was a full 35% of Lawson's points, marking the eighth time in a row Galloway has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Austin King, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 12 points.

Louis Taylor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for White House, going 9-for-12 to rack up 28 points. That's the most points Taylor has posted since back in January. Romeo Cantrell was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to six boards and five assists.

Lawson's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 18-13. As for White House, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-17 record this season.

Lawson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for White House, they will square off against Hume-Fogg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Hume-Fogg's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.
