Preview: Collinsville vs. Skiatook
Skiatook will square off against Collinsville at 7:00 PM on Friday. If the 3-10 final from the last time they met is any indication, this game will be decided by the defense.
Skiatook fought the good fight in their overtime contest last Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Claremore by a score of 14-17. Skiatook got a solid performance out of junior Jayden Garner, who rushed for 68 yards and 1 touchdown; unfortunately, it just wasn't enough for the win. That makes it three straight good games in a row from Garner.
Meanwhile, Collinsville brought a seven-game winning streak into their match against Pryor last Thursday; they left with a eight-game streak. Collinsville put the hurt on Pryor with a sharp 41-13 victory. Followers of Collinsville probably expected little less of the team in a season in which they have collected seven blowout victories.
Collinsville's victory lifted them to 8-0 while Skiatook's defeat dropped them down to 6-2. We'll find out if Collinsville can add another positive mark to their record or if Skiatook can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Collinsville's step.
