Lucerne Valley had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Academy of Careers & Exploration on Friday. The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagle a 10-0 shutout. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

Jonathan Gonzalez was a major factor no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Jovani Ceja-Gonzalez and Jakob Barajas did most of the damage at the plate: Ceja-Gonzalez went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Barajas went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most hits Ceja-Gonzalez has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Reichow, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Lucerne Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Lucerne Valley now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Academy of Careers & Exploration, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-14.

Looking ahead, Lucerne Valley will host Victor Valley Christian at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Academy of Careers & Exploration, they will head out to face off against Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
