High school football: Top 10 Idaho players from the Class of 2022

Michigan recruit Colston Loveland headlines a glance at the state's top recruits, according to 247Sports.



Ahead of the 2021 high school football season, MaxPreps is breaking down the top senior prospects in the country state-by-state, as rated by 247Sports. Idaho begins play in earnest on Aug. 27.

Preseason No. 1 Rigby, Thunder Ridge and Eagle each have two players in the Top 10. The rankings also highlight the quality of tight end and quarterback talent in the state, with three players at each position dotting the list. Of note, as of Aug. 18, three players have committed to Division I programs.

Loveland, a four-star recruit, followed up on a monster sophomore campaign (91 receptions, 1,147 yards, 14 TDs) with a stout junior season (69 receptions, 816 yards, five TDs) in 2020. He also recorded 37 tackles at defensive end.

6-2 | 194 | QB | Undecided
Adolpho has offers from Hawaii and Kansas after leading the top-ranked Trojans to a 10-1 record last season and a state runner-up finish in 5A.

6-2 | 180 | ATH | Undecided
A multi-position talent, Johnson is receiving looks from the likes of Eastern Washington, Idaho State and Montana State.

5-11 | 195 | ATH | Undecided
Another versatile performer who lines up all over the field offensively for the preseason No. 3 Mustangs, Mikita is considering offers from in-state College of Idaho and Idaho.

5. Paul Fitzgerald | Thunder Ridge (Idaho Falls)
6-3 | 235 | DE | Utah State
This three-star recruit turned down offers from BYU (de-committed), Idaho State and Nevada.

6-4 | 212 | TE | Air Force
A converted quarterback, Fleischmann had 46 receptions for 843 yards and a whopping 15 TDs for the Diamondbacks (7-4) in 2020.

6-4 | 225 | TE | Undecided
Walk was the leading receiver for the Golden Eagles last season, grabbing 26 receptions for 362 yards (50 for 576 in his career) in just six games. He figures to have a monster 2021 campaign, and he has offers from Idaho and Idaho State.



8. Taylor Freeman | Rigby
6-1 | 175 | WR | Undecided
The top target for Tiger Adolpho (above), Freeman opened eyes this summer with strong camp showings and figures to add to his current offers (Idaho State).

9. Jack Benson | Eagle
6-3 | 170 | QB | Undecided
Mikita's signal-caller is drawing interest from several FCS programs.

6-6 | 195 | QB | Undecided
The pro-style quarterback is receiving interest from San Jose State, Idaho, Montana and Southern Utah.
