Soccer Game Preview: Catholic vs. Hampton Roads Academy

The Catholic Crusaders will square off against the Hampton Roads Academy Navigators at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Catholic has given up an average of 3.1 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Catholic came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 7-2 to Cape Henry Collegiate. Catholic were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 5-0.

Alessandro Guillen and Griffin McCallum scored both of Catholic's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Meanwhile, Hampton Roads Academy faced Norfolk Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Navigators came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 3-1. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but Hampton Roads Academy were the better team in the second half.

Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 6-9-2. As for Hampton Roads Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Everything went Catholic's way against Hampton Roads Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Catholic made off with a 4-0 win. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Navigators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
