Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Cibola

Cibola had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Rincon/University Rangers. With that win, the Raiders brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Eliana Corea made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

In other batting news, Cameron Kasid and Stephanie Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Kasid scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Garcia scored three runs while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave Garcia a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Angelica Arellano, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Cibola was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .606. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Cibola's record now sits at 6-10. As for Rincon/University, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-10.

Looking ahead, Cibola will host Desert Vista at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Cibola's pitchers better be ready for this one: Desert Vista has averaged an impressive 13.7 runs per game this season. As for Rincon/University, they will take on Marana at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
