Baseball Recap: Powell County Gets the Win

Powell County came out on top against Jackson County on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run sixth inning. The Pirates skirted past the Generals 9-7. This was a revenge game for the Pirates: when they faced off against the Generals back in March, they had to take a 6-3 loss.

The team relied heavily on Bryson Edwards, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Powell County's win bumped their record up to 12-13. As for Jackson County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.

Powell County will square off against Owsley County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Jackson County, they will face off against Oneida Baptist Institute at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mountanieers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.2 runs per game on average), something the Generals will no doubt try to take advantage of.
