Softball Recap: Tough Loss for Mitchell

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Mitchell's offense. They came up short against the Mesa Ridge Grizzlies, falling 15-0.

For Mesa Ridge's part, they got a big performance out of Elexiyah Montoya, who went 1-for-2 while logging 3 stolen bases, 3 runs, and 1 RBI. The three runs were her most since August 22nd, when she scored four vs. Rampart. Another player making a difference was Kiana Steinhoff, who went 2-for-3 while logging 5 RBIs, 2 runs, 1 triple, and 1 double.

Mitchell has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 19 of their last 20 games, dating back to last year. That leaves them at a 1-9 record this season. As for Mesa Ridge, they are now 7-10, having gone 1-2 since their three-game winning streak ended.

Mitchell wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 15-0 loss against Widefield on the 23rd. As for Mesa Ridge, they will head out to challenge Canon City at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
