Preview: Van Horn Eagles vs. Dell City Cougars
Van Horn is 9-0 against Dell City since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Van Horn Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Dell City Cougars at 1:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Van Horn has four straight wins, Dell City has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Van Horn was able to grind out a solid victory over Sierra Blanca, taking the game 35-25.
Van Horn's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malia Bermudez, who scored 14 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bermudez has scored all season. Georgi Sparks was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Dell City took a serious blow against Balmorhea last Tuesday, falling 74-16.
Van Horn pushed their record up to 15-7 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Dell City, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
Everything went Van Horn's way against Dell City in their previous meeting on January 3rd as Van Horn made off with a 38-14 victory. Does Van Horn have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dell City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
