Softball Game Preview: Regis Ramblers vs. McDonell Central Macks

Regis is 1-8 against McDonell Central since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Ramblers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Macks at 5:00 p.m. Regis has given up an average of 11.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Regis is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of Stanley-Boyd.

Ava Skwiercynski was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and ten unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Olivia Morning was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Justice Tait was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for McDonell Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They never let Augusta get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Tuesday. The one-run effort marked the Macks' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Regis' loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for McDonell Central, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
