Basketball Recap: Gilroy Takes a Loss

Gilroy was the 58-49 winner over Evergreen Valley when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Gilroy Mustangs took a 53-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Evergreen Valley Cougars on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1169th, while the Cougars are ranked 561st).

Gilroy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Evergreen Valley, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-4.

Gilroy will challenge Live Oak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Evergreen Valley, they will take on Oak Grove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oak Grove will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Evergreen Valley surely won't give up without a fight.
