Baseball Game Preview: Speedway Sparkplugs vs. Shelbyville Golden Bears

The Speedway Sparkplugs will head out to challenge the Shelbyville Golden Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Speedway has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Speedway's offense. They came up short against Triton Central on Wednesday, falling 11-0. That's two games in a row now that the Sparkplugs have lost by exactly 11 runs.

Speedway saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gage Beiswinger, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Shelbyville fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Mt. Vernon on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Marauders by a score of 6-5. The Golden Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 3-3. As for Speedway, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5-1.
