Baseball Game Preview: Highland Huskies vs. Liberty Common Eagles

The Highland Huskies will face off against the Liberty Common Eagles at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Highland will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Highland needed a bit of extra time to put away Yuma. They skirted past the Outlaws 7-5.

Stetson Hendren made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Sawyer Morgan was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Liberty Common came up short against Eaton on Thursday, falling 16-1.

Bryson Weibler made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Liberty Common has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for Highland, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5-1.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Highland has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Liberty Common struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Highland's way against Liberty Common in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Highland made off with a 12-5 win. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
