Soccer Game Preview: Mount Vernon vs. Langley

The Mount Vernon Majors will head out to challenge the Langley Saxons at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Mount Vernon's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for ten straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

On Friday, Mount Vernon didn't have quite enough to beat Falls Church and fell 2-1.

Meanwhile, Langley hadn't done well against McLean recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Saxons never let the Highlanders get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Langley were the better team in the second half.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Corinne Fisher, who's now up to four this season.

Mount Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Langley, their win bumped their record up to 7-2-1.

Mount Vernon might still be hurting after the 5-1 defeat they got from Langley when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Majors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
