Basketball Recap: Cullen Marti's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coahulla Creek over North Cobb Christian

Coahulla Creek has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 92-73 bruising from the North Cobb Christian Eagles on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Colts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while the Eagles are ranked 38th).

Several Colts players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cullen Marti, who went 7 of 14 en route to 18 points along with six boards and five blocks. Marti has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 16 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Quarles, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 18 points.

Even though they lost, Coahulla Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in nine consecutive games.

North Cobb Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Chandler, who went 6 of 13 en route to 16 points and six assists. Another player making a difference was Grant Robich, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight assists and five rebounds.

Coahulla Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for North Cobb Christian, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3.

Coahulla Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 63-54 win against Ringgold on the 9th. North Cobb Christian has also already played their next contest, a 95-48 victory against Murray County on the 9th.
