Basketball Recap: Willis Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Willis walked away with it. They had just enough and edged the Westfield Mustangs out 54-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildkats have posted since December 7, 2024.

Tyshon Nixon was a one-man wrecking crew for Willis as he posted 20 points and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Nixon a new career-high in blocks (two). Jackson Day was another key player, going 7-for-14 en route to 14 points.

Willis is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 21-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points over those games. As for Westfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-13-1.

Coming up, Willis will take on Cypress Springs at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cypress Springs will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Willis surely won't give up without a fight. Westfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
