Basketball Recap: Melrose Golden Wildcats vs. Fairley Bulldogs

Melrose lost against Fairley on December 2nd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Melrose Golden Wildcats were dealt a 76-45 defeat at the hands of the Fairley Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Golden Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 88th).

Fairley got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brandon Chatman out in front who went 5 for 8 on his way to 16 points in addition to five assists and five boards. Chatman is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Alarin Polk was another key player, going 5 for 6 on his way to 11 points and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Melrose and nudges their season record down to 2-8. As for Fairley, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-3.

Melrose wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-34 loss against Wilson Central on the 21st. As for Fairley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 84-42 defeat against Briarcrest Christian on the 20th.
