Baseball Recap: Waldron's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Indy Genesis HomeSchool, Waldron was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the South Decatur Cougars a 4-0 shutout. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mohawks as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Not much got past Jordan Bennett, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep South Decatur off the board. Bennett also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Waldron is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Waldron's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Kuhn, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. Another was Charlie Fischer, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Waldron's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for South Decatur, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Waldron will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cougars: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
