Basketball Recap: Pueblo Central Wildcats vs. Harrison Panthers
If Pueblo Central was riding high fresh off their 37-17 takedown of Pueblo South on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pueblo Central Wildcats had to suffer through a 53-24 loss at the hands of the Harrison Panthers. The Wildcats lost against the Panthers in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 39-32 score last time.
Despite the loss, Pueblo Central still got an impressive performance from Danee Cowles, who posted six points.
Leading Harrison to victory were Nadia Turnipseed and Alauna Dickerson. Turnipseed went 6-for-14 to rack up 15 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals, while Dickerson went 7-for-13 en route to 15 points in addition to five boards and four steals. What's more, Turnipseed also posted a 43% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in November of 2023. Another player making a difference was Nyleen Brown, who put up six points.
Pueblo Central's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Harrison, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-10.
Pueblo Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 51-20 defeat against Mesa Ridge on the 10th. As for Harrison, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 41-16 loss against Peyton on the 10th.
