Charlotte Catholic skates past Providence with ease

Make it ten blowout wins for the Charlotte Catholic Cougars this season. They claimed a resounding 57-30 win over Providence on the road. Given Charlotte Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Providence is ranked 142nd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Gracynn Gough, who scored 28 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Blanca Thomas was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Despite the loss, Providence still got an impressive performance from Delanie Hill, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. That was a full 63.3% of Providence's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Charlotte Catholic's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. As for Providence, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9.

Charlotte Catholic will take on Independence at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 276 points over their last four games. As for Providence, they will head out on the road to take on Butler at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Brooklyn Saunders and Hill.
