Softball Recap: Berlin Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Berlin had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Conard Red Wolves. The Redcoats haven't had any issues with the Red Wolves recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Madeline Mota made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Mota was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julia Matan, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Peyton Nadeau, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Conard's loss dropped their record down to 2-1.

Berlin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 8-6 defeat against Hale Ray on the 10th. As for Conard, they are taking a road trip to face off against Bristol Central at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
