Basketball Recap: Mankato West Comes Up Short

Mankato West lost against Mound-Westonka back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Mankato West Scarlets lost 71-51 to the Mound-Westonka White Hawks. While losing is never fun, the Scarlets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while the White Hawks are ranked 34th).

Mankato West's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Mound-Westonka, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mankato West will head out to take on New Prague at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mankato West is facing New Prague at the right time seeing as New Prague is stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Mound-Westonka, they will venture away from home to challenge Stewartville at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday.
