Irvine had already won 17 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.2 points) and they went ahead and made it 18 on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Woodbridge Warriors 42-40. Given the Vaqueros' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Warriors are ranked 426th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Irvine got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cooper Stearns out in front who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. The matchup was Stearns' sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Holden Stearns, who went 5 of 9 en route to 13 points.

Irvine pushed their record up to 25-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 29.9% in those games and 29.2% outside of them. As for Woodbridge, their loss dropped their record down to 12-14.
