Leland suffers 14th straight loss on the road

Recap: Leland Cubs vs. West Tallahatchie Choctaws

The Leland Cubs lost against the West Tallahatchie Choctaws back in December of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Leland fell just short of West Tallahatchie by a score of 44-42.

It was another big night for Mi'Kenzi Christian, who scored 19 points for West Tallahatchie. The game was Christian's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kydresha Washington, who scored eight points.

Leland's loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-14. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 22.0 points per game. As for West Tallahatchie, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

Leland will be playing at home against South Delta at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Delta presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Leland in Mississippi (South Delta is ranked 140th, while Leland is ranked 305th). As for West Tallahatchie, they will head out on the road to face off against Shaw at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Shaw has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
