Flag Football Recap: Carlsbad Piles Up the Points Against Oceanside

While Carlsbad put up plenty of points on Thursday, the same can't be said for Oceanside. The Lancers claimed a resounding 45-0 win over the Pirates. Considering the Lancers have won seven games by more than 23 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Carlsbad didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Brooke Johnson, Analeigha Cavaluzzi, and Reese Bowman picked up one apiece. Cavaluzzi got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The victory (which was Carlsbad's third in a row) raised their record to 16-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 2.7 points on average over those games. As for Oceanside, they dropped their record down to 2-9 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Carlsbad will challenge Mission Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Grizzlies' defense has only allowed 11.7 points per game this season, so the Lancers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Oceanside, they will take on Canyon Crest Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
