Soccer Recap: Helix's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

On Saturday, the Helix Highlanders earned a 3-1 win over the Valhalla Norsemen. Given the Highlanders' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while the Norsemen are ranked 864th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Helix's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Valhalla, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 0-8-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Helix and University City will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Valhalla, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on West Hills at 7:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. West Hills will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Valhalla surely won't give up without a fight.
