Basketball Recap: Eastern Tech Mavericks vs. Franklin Indians

After flying high against Carver A&T last Friday, Eastern Tech came back down to earth. The Eastern Tech Mavericks took a 65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Franklin Indians. The Mavericks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Several Mavericks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew Foley, who to rack up 19 points and four steals. Foley continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of James Jr. Brian, who posted 11 points along with five assists and four steals.

Even though they lost, Eastern Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.
