Softball Recap: Van Nuys Triumphs

Van Nuys proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 14) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Monroe Vikings 16-15. That's more bragging rights for the Wolves, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Isabella Espinoza was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. ALISA LARA also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Van Nuys kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Van Nuys is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Monroe, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Van Nuys will challenge North Hollywood at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolves will need to watch out since the Huskies have now posted at least ten runs in their last five games. As for Monroe, they will face off against Reseda at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
