Softball Game Preview: Silverton Foxes vs. Sprague Olympians

The Silverton Foxes will face off against the Sprague Olympians at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Silverton has three straight wins, Sprague has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Silverton's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Grants Pass. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Foxes yet this season.

Silverton got a massive performance out of Paisley Rains, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Rains has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Houts, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.

Silverton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Sprague came up short against Aloha on Wednesday, falling 14-7.

Brooklyn Bakke led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Annie Gunia, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Sprague's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Silverton, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Silverton might still be hurting after the 16-2 defeat they got from Sprague in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Can Silverton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
