Recap: Lincolnton Wolves vs. Burns Bulldogs
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Lincolnton Wolves ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 74-64 victory over Burns. The victory was just business as usual for Lincolnton, who after five games remain undefeated this season.
It was another big night for Junior "LJ" Smith, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds. The matchup was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Khamoni Heath, who scored 9 points along with 11 rebounds and 3 steals.
Despite the loss, Burns still got an impressive performance from Jonny Johnson, who scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. Johnson hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tye Clay, who scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds.
Lincolnton's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Burns, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Lincolnton will head out on the road to face off against Cherryville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Burns, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Crest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Crest focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
