Baseball Recap: Union Pines Comes Up Short

The Union Pines Vikings didn't have quite enough to beat the Randleman Tigers on Wednesday and fell 2-1. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Union Pines got a good showing from Joey Ring, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ring has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Union Pines' defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Randleman, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-4.

Union Pines does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Randleman, they will be playing at home against Christ the King at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Crusaders have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
