Volleyball Recap: Maryjane (Mj) Cockrill's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Desert Mountain over Campo Verde

In Thursday's Canine Competition, Desert Mountain had to take the L. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Campo Verde Coyotes on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolves of the 3-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Desert Mountain lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Maryjane (Mj) Cockrill, who had 24 digs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 10.1 digs per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Miranda McDonald, who had 18 digs and one assist.

This is the second loss in a row for Desert Mountain and nudges their season record down to 4-9. As for Campo Verde, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.

Desert Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Flagstaff on the 19th. As for Campo Verde, they will venture away from home to square off against Desert Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
