Basketball Recap: Alexandria-Monroe Comes Up Short

Alexandria-Monroe and Rensselaer Central squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Alexandria-Monroe had to settle for second. They took a 57-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rensselaer Central Bombers.

Despite the loss, Alexandria-Monroe still got an impressive performance from Jacklynn Hosier, who shot 5-for-8 from deep and almost dropped a double-double with 19 points and nine rebounds. Hosier's afternoon made it 14 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylan McFall, who posted 14 points.

Rensselaer Central's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Van Meter, who went 7-for-14 on her way to 18 points in addition to six assists and five boards. Van Meter is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last ten games she's played. Kamri Rowland was another key player, going 6-for-14 en route to 15 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Alexandria-Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 25-2. As for Rensselaer Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 24-2 record this season.

Alexandria-Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rensselaer Central, they will take on Sheridan at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sheridan comes in on 22 and Rensselaer Central on seven.
