Preview: Wheaton Academy Warriors vs. Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes

Wheaton Academy is 1-0 against Marian Central Catholic since August of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Wheaton Academy Warriors will look to defend their home field against the Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Wheaton Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 49.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 30-7 margin over Aurora Christian.

Brett Kasper continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 112 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, while also throwing for 115 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Gino Spinelli, who gained 75 total yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Marian Central Catholic got themselves on the board against St. Edward on Friday, but St. Edward never followed suit. They breezed by the Green Wave at home to the tune of 41-0. Given Marian Central Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 173rd, while St. Edward is ranked 444th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wheaton Academy's win was their sixth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 St. Edward and 1-7 St. Charles East (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.5% over those games). As for Marian Central Catholic, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 4-4.

Everything came up roses for Wheaton Academy against Marian Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in August of 2022 as the squad secured a 48-14 victory.
