Softball Game Preview: Lebanon Pioneers vs. John Battle Trojans

The Lebanon Pioneers will challenge the John Battle Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lebanon will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

On Saturday, Lebanon narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Richlands 3-2.

Meanwhile, it's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact John Battle can now relate to. They fell just short of the Bears by a score of 7-5 last Monday. That's two games in a row now that the Trojans have lost by exactly two runs.

Lebanon's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for John Battle, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-10.

Lebanon beat John Battle 7-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2018. Will the Pioneers repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
