Baseball Recap: Perry's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Newton Local typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Perry proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 9-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Commodores, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Hunter Scott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brodey Douce, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Caiden Mort, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Perry moved to 14-8 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Newton Local, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.

Coming up, Perry will take on Columbus Grove in a tournament on Saturday. As for Newton Local, they will be playing at home against Southeastern Local at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Indians are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
