Basketball Game Preview: Ball Tornadoes vs. Texas City Stingarees

Ball and Texas City are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Ball Tornadoes will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Texas City Stingarees at 11:30 a.m. Ball is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season.

Ball saw some tournament action on Saturday. They breezed by Victoria West to the tune of 67-39. The Tornadoes have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 23 points or more this season.

Ball's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Braeon Arceneaux, who went 7 of 12 from beyond the arc on her way to 29 points along with five boards and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Arceneaux has scored at least a third of Ball's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalyn Toussaint, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists.

Ball smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 13 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Texas City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were one points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-43 heartbreaker at the hands of Alvin.

Ball is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Texas City, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.

Ball strolled past Texas City when the teams last played back in January by a score of 62-47. Does Ball have another victory up their sleeve, or will Texas City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
