North Star hasn't had much luck against Rockwood recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Cougars will host the Rockets at 4:30 p.m. North Star is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
North Star is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Friday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Ferndale. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by just one run.
Morgan Snyder made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Lexi Swanson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one double.
Rockwood not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 22, 2024 (when they won 17-1). They put the hurt on Blacklick Valley with a sharp 16-1 win. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Paelyn Sanner was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Elika Pletcher and Emma Brown did most of the damage at the plate: Pletcher went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs, while Brown went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four hits gave Pletcher a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley Pletcher, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Rockwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Rockwood's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for North Star, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
